Information about California Senate Bill 577:

Senate Bill 577 is a consumer protection law that went into effect in January 2003.  SB577 is designed to ensure that all consumers of energy healing, spiritual healing, Reiki, Pranic healing, homeopathy, flower essences, and other vibrational or energy-based healing techniques are aware these methods are considered complementary to standard medical practices in the State of California.  The intent of SB577 is to clarify the State’s position that energy-based healing methods are to be used along with standard medical practices, especially in the case of serious physical or psychological disorders.  

In compliance with California State law, my clients are asked to sign the following consent form prior to treatment:

“I understand that Brynne E. Dippell, Ph.D., the Energy Healing practitioner from whom I seek services, is not a licensed physician, surgeon, or psychologist and that Energy Healing treatments are not licensed by the State but are complementary to healing arts licensed by the State.  I understand that Energy Healing as practiced by Brynne E. Dippell, Ph.D. is a highly developed system of energy-based healing techniques that utilizes “chi” or “universal life energy” to harmonize and transform the body’s energetic processes by cleansing, energizing, and balancing the bioelectromagnetic field (“energy field”).  I also understand that Energy Healing is considered a spiritually-based practice, and as such, Brynne E. Dippell, Ph.D. is practicing as an ordained interfaith minister in this capacity.”
